Boat Ride to Turtle Lake
Like a lot of couples, Myranda and Ryan were all set to get married in the summer of 2020 but the pandemic forced them to reschedule. Instead we had the opportunity to boat out to Turtle Lake and explore a beautiful rocky island at sunset.
The boat was captained by Myranda’s stepdad. He’s a self proclaimed expert on the lake and I’m inclined to agree because those narrows are full of rocks. We didn’t hit them so… Success!!!
We pulled up at the island to a little camp spot stocked with wood and a fire pit. Turtle Lake is on crown land, so if you can get to it you can camp on it. I won’t spoil the location but there are loads of free and beautiful camp spots on lakes connected by the Mattawa River.
The sunset was stunning and it was great to connect with Myranda and Ryan before their wedding next year. It felt like we got to steal a couple extra moments of summer before the weather went gloomy again.
